The brief
Six condensers on a west-facing wall, all visible from the street. The body corporate wanted them gone without a single complaint from the residents whose aircon stopped working.
Open area was set from the units’ own airflow figures rather than a stock drawing, with clearance kept around every fan. The gradient runs across the whole elevation, so the six covers read as one designed element instead of six patches.
Aluminium rather than steel, three hundred metres from the sea. Painted steel would have been streaking within two seasons.
